I always wanted my firm to do more solar PV work, but we struggled to train new people fast enough and far enough ahead of the need. And in the end, creating a design takes a certain natural skill set that not everyone has.
With PV Rocket, the training process has become similar to teaching AutoCAD. It is about what to look for and proper data entry. What I've seen is that a simple 100KW system can be done with high quality in about four hours. But I've also seen more complex 1MW systems that can be done with high quality in about four hours. The nature of the dialog boxes of PV Rocket means that the system size doesn't matter. It takes a certain amount of time to go through the boxes, and with repetition, we can go through the boxes with great accuracy.
As the developer of PV Rocket, it's always been the Stringing program that makes the biggest impression. I've seen it time and time again. When you show a designer that they've counted their last module, it revolutionizes their job. The calculations program took thousands of hours more to develop but being rid of the endless counting is quite satisfying.
